  1. Heat ghee in a pan and lightly roast the makhana until crisp.
  2. Let them cool, then crush roughly into small pieces.
  3. Boil milk in a heavy-bottom pan and reduce slightly.
  4. Add crushed makhana and cook for 8–10 minutes on low heat.
  5. Add sugar and cardamom powder. Mix well.
  6. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve warm or chilled.
